In Uzbekistan, starting from May 1, the utilization fees for importing electric vehicles have significantly increased. This was stipulated in a decree signed by the Prime Minister on January 31 of this year.
According to the document, the previous fee amount for electric vehicles that are less than 3 years old has been raised fourfold, increasing from 30 basic calculation amounts (11 million 250 thousand soums) to 120 basic calculation amounts (45 million soums).
Additionally, the fee amount for electric vehicles that are older than 3 years has been increased by 2.3 times. Now, instead of 90 basic calculation amounts (33 million 750 thousand soums), they will need to pay 210 basic calculation amounts, which is 78 million 750 thousand soums.
A video circulating on social media clearly illustrates these changes using the example of customs costs for the BYD Song Plus Champion electric vehicle. According to it, starting from May 1, the customs fee for this type of electric vehicle is 937 thousand soums, and the 12% value-added tax amounts to 37 million 923 thousand soums. As mentioned above, the utilization fee is 45 million soums. As a result, the total customs costs for importing this electric vehicle amount to 83 million 860 thousand soums.
According to the decree, a procedure for the effective use of these utilization fees was to be developed within two months. However, there has been no official announcement yet regarding whether this procedure has been developed or what form it will take. Against the backdrop of the increased utilization fees, there is a growing interest among the population in the changes in the electric transport sector.
