A temple from the 5th–8th centuries was found in Qang‘qa
During archaeological research conducted in the town of Qang‘qa, located in the Oqqo‘rg‘on district of Tashkent region, remains of a temple complex believed to date back to the 5th–8th centuries and remnants of metal armor were discovered. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This information was provided by the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. These studies are being carried out within the framework of a state program aimed at establishing the town of Qang‘qa as an "open-air museum".

Occupying an area of 500 hectares, this archaeological monument is considered the ancient Qang‘ state and the first capital of the Tashkent oasis. Some researchers associate Qang‘qa with Qang‘diz mentioned in the "Avesta" texts and the legendary Qang‘diz in the epic "Shahnameh".

The findings were identified during research conducted by the "Military History Center" and the "Ancient World History" department in the lower cultural layers of the town's citadel. According to preliminary assumptions, the discovered armor remnants may have been sacrifices intended for religious ceremonies.

In ancient times, it was customary for jewelers to dedicate precious items to temples. For example, similar findings were uncovered during excavations at the Boykent temple.

According to experts, this discovery is of great importance for studying the military culture and religious traditions of Turkic peoples living in Central Asia in the early Middle Ages. The town of Qang‘qa has provided valuable information during previous research as well.

For instance, in 2021, items related to horse harnesses were found at the entrance of the temple complex. The new discoveries once again confirm the high level of military craftsmanship and the complexity of religious ceremonies in this area.
