On April 4, in the city of Samarkand, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, officially opened the first summit of "Central Asia - European Union," as reported by president.uz.
At the beginning of his speech, the President emphasized that the summit is taking place against the backdrop of unpredictable global processes.
“Our meeting is taking place in the context of rapid and unpredictable global processes. We are witnessing an increase in geopolitical conflicts, security issues, regional disputes, and threats to sustainable development.
No region can solve such complex issues alone without broad international cooperation,” said the President.
In this regard, he noted that Central Asia and the European Union are traditional partners and that the demand for mutual cooperation is growing. He also stated that Uzbekistan is committed to the principles of international law.
Mirziyoyev expressed his support for negotiations aimed at resolving the situation around Ukraine peacefully.
“Of course, there are complex issues ahead that do not have easy solutions. However, we see no alternative to diplomatic efforts and political solutions,” said the President.
