It was reported by Upl.uz that ammunition intended for firearms was found in the luggage of a passenger arriving from New York at Tashkent International Airport.
The incident occurred while the luggage was being inspected by an X-ray machine at the "Tashkent-Aero" special customs complex. During the standard inspection, suspicious items were detected, prompting customs officials to decide on a more detailed examination.
When the suitcase was opened with the involvement of specialists, three cartridges of 7.6×39 mm caliber were found among personal belongings — clothing. These cartridges are intended for use in firearms.
After the cartridges were identified, the information was forwarded to law enforcement agencies, and an investigation has now begun.
The passenger's method of bringing in these cartridges and their purpose is being clarified. Their identity has not been disclosed, but it is known that they arrived from the USA. Customs officials emphasized that such cases require special monitoring.
According to Uzbekistan legislation, prior permission is required to bring any weapons and ammunition into the country.
