“Zenit” team started the new season uncertainly. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
They won the first match against “Rostov” with a score of 2:1, but it wasn't easy. In the next match, they recorded a 2:2 draw against “Rubin”.
Therefore, it is important to analyze the reasons for the problems in the game of the team led by Sergey Semak. In the last two matches, “Zenit” only performed well in one half.
For example, in the match against “Rostov”, they fell behind in the first half, the opponent applied strong pressure, and problems arose. In the second half, however, “Rostov” slowed down, and “Zenit” managed to take advantage of this.
In the match in “Kazan”, the first half went well, but in the second half, the team lacked ideas and character. As a result, the draw was a fair outcome.
The new players did not have enough time to adapt to the team. “Zenit” is mainly strengthening the squad with foreign players.
The newcomers are from South America, and it is not easy for them to adapt to the conditions in Russia. Additionally, the previous problems within the team still persist.
This season seems to be a continuation of the previous one. Many successes may have created a sense of saturation within the team.
“Zenit” has become accustomed to easy victories in recent years, which has led to a decrease in motivation within the team. If Semak wins the championship, it will be accepted as a normal situation.
A loss, however, will return to him as criticism. For this reason, the coach is working under pressure.
Some seem to overestimate “Zenit”'s strength. The championship was won in the last minutes last season.
The club's budget is higher than that of its rivals, but due to the ban on participating in European cups, it has become difficult to attract strong foreign players. In the domestic championship, all teams have almost equal opportunities.
Considering the above factors, “Zenit”'s advantage in the championship struggle is not guaranteed. The club is required to earn every point and victory with all its might.
