
Zenit Football Club started its first match in the Russian Cup with a victory. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Under the leadership of head coach Sergey Semak, Zenit played away against Akhmat club and won 2:1. In the early minutes of the match, Arsen Adamov and Lusiano Gondou became the authors of quick goals.
In the 83rd minute of the game, Akhmat forward Mohamed Konate scored a goal from a penalty, bringing intrigue back to the match. The head of the St. Petersburg club, Aleksandr Medvedev, expressed dissatisfaction with the penalty awarded by the referee.
He emphasized that Sobolev's hand was in a natural position and did not affect the movement of the ball. Therefore, Medvedev pointed out that according to previous explanations, this situation should not be assessed as a penalty.
Now Zenit is preparing for a clash against CSKA club in the Premier League at home. This match will take place on Sunday, August 3, and is scheduled to start at 18:00 Moscow time.
