The Expert-Referee Commission of the Russian Football Union reviewed two incidents in the match between Spartak and Baltika based on Spartak's request. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The incidents are related to the dismissals of Anton Zabolotny and Markinyos. In the first case, the Expert-Referee Commission deemed the decision made by referee Sergey Karasyov after the VAR system's intervention to be correct.
The Commission determined that Anton Zabolotny had seriously violated football rules. The referees unanimously emphasized that the Spartak forward threatened the safety of the opposing player with his open studs before reaching the ball.
In the second case, however, the Commission unanimously found that the showing of a second yellow card to Markinyos by Sergey Karasyov was incorrect. The Commission established that the Baltika player was in an offside position before the foul was committed.
Therefore, there was no obstruction to the development of the attack. As a result, the assistant referee's mistake led to the main referee making an erroneous decision as well.
According to its protocol, VAR could not intervene in this situation. It is worth noting that Spartak lost this match to Baltika with a score of 0:3.
