Former football player Dmitriy Bulykin shared his thoughts on the squad of the "Spartak" team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The former striker of the Russian national team believes that the "red-whites" currently have a squad capable of competing for the Premier League championship. According to Bulykin, although it can be said jokingly, "Spartak" needs another two or three new players, each costing 30 million euros, but he believes that the team can still compete for the championship in its current state.
Bulykin also noted that "Spartak" had the opportunity to fight for the championship last season as well, but the team was unable to perform well during the spring months. According to him, head coach Deyan Stankovich did not fully understand how the winter break in Russian football would go.
This affected the team's results. In the first three rounds of the Premier League, "Spartak" collected four points.
In the next round, Stankovich's team will face the league leader "Lokomotiv". The match will take place on August 9 at the "RJD Arena" stadium.
