Former "Lokomotiv" football player Dmitriy Sennikov expressed his thoughts on the start of the new season for the "railway workers" in an interview with the online publication "Evro-Futbol.Ru". Euro-football.ru reported this.
According to Sennikov, the start of the season for "Lokomotiv" was better than expected, especially the team's victory in Krasnodar was an unexpected event for many. However, overall, "Lokomotiv" is superior to the teams "Sochi" and "Pari NN" in terms of composition and strength.
Speaking about the game in Krasnodar, Sennikov emphasized that "Lokomotiv" acted correctly in defense and effectively utilized quick counterattacks. He noted that the "railway workers" took advantage of the situation because the opponent was not aggressive enough.
In response to a question about the team's fight for the championship in the new season, Sennikov mentioned that the team still lacks experienced and high-level players. However, he stated that young players, particularly Barinov and Batakov, are gaining experience, and if there are no injuries or declines, the team will be able to compete against strong rivals.
In his opinion, the club's reliance on a young squad and its low-cost transfer policy are moving in the right direction, but important results are still lacking. Sennikov also commented on Vadim Rakov, who is playing on loan at "Krylya Sovetov" and has shown good results in recent games.
He stated that Rakov has not fully revealed himself in his team and may show his potential in another club, but it is still early in the season, and it is difficult to predict what will happen in the future. Sennikov partially agrees with the former president of the team, Naumov, who stated that "Lokomotiv" lacks stability in their game.
He emphasized that sometimes luck is also needed, but currently, the team's defense is raising more concerns. With the next opponent being "Spartak," Sennikov pointed out that this match will be an important test for "Lokomotiv."
In his opinion, there is no pressure on "Lokomotiv," while "Spartak" faces pressure from fans and the internal environment of the club. Therefore, this game will be a test for both teams, and the outcome is difficult to predict.
