Famous coach Valery Nepomnyashiy shared his thoughts on the restrictions placed on legionnaires in Russian football. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Starting from the next season, it is planned to tighten the requirements regarding the number of legionnaires. Instead of the current "13+8" system, which allows a maximum of 13 legionnaires on the team roster and 8 legionnaires on the field at the same time, a "10+5" system may be introduced.
Under this new system, the team roster will be allowed to have 10 legionnaires, with 5 legionnaires permitted on the field. Valery Nepomnyashiy stated that he accepts the strengthening of these restrictions with understanding.
In his opinion, although many legionnaires are currently playing in the Russian Premier League, most of them do not meet the established criteria. He wants the quality of legionnaires to be high, but currently, there are more average-level foreign players, and many of them are sitting on the bench.
For this reason, he believes that tightening the restrictions, even if temporary, is correct. At the same time, three rounds have been played in the Russian Premier League, and the "Lokomotiv" team is in the lead.
This team, led by Mikhail Galaktionov, is the only team that has not lost any points according to the results of the three rounds.
