Political pressure at PSG has put Safonov's future in question
PSG is a club that won all major trophies last season, including the French championship, the French Cup, the Super Cup, and even the Champions League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

Many believe that after such results, the team will plan for new victories. However, today the complex situation within the club, particularly the competition among players and political factors, is being discussed.

Matvey Safonov has risen to the level of the Champions League final from "Krasnodar" in the past year. Now he finds himself not only in the shadow of Donnarumma and new arrival Luc Shevalye but also at the center of strange political and sporting events.

The main reason for this is the situation related to Illya Zabarnyi's transfer. According to some sources, the Ukrainian defender has set a condition not to play alongside the Russian player in the team.

The situation seems illogical. Although PSG has the ability to buy any player, they are seriously considering the demand of a young and promising player like Zabarnyi.

Safonov has good performance statistics: he has played in 17 matches, kept a clean sheet in 7 games, and won four trophies. His contract is valid until 2029, and his transfer value is estimated at 20 million euros.

However, the club has added a new goalkeeper, Luc Shevalye, while Donnarumma is still in the team. Zabarnyi's demand is legally unfounded, as excluding a player based on nationality contradicts French labor legislation and FIFA regulations.

However, in football practice, the situation on paper often differs from reality. Due to external pressure and political factors, the club management may force Safonov to look for a place in another team.

This situation denies the notion that football is free from politics. If a club that is a Champions League winner is discussing more political and social issues than sports, it is indeed a strange situation.

Safonov may have to leave the team due to the transfer of another player in this process. The Paris club seems to be choosing not the strongest player today, but the most convenient one.

This is a completely different game. Arman Tigranyants
