Former “Zenit” defender Sergey Vedeneev called for caution in drawing hasty conclusions about head coach Sergey Semak following the team's sluggish start in the Russian championship. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Currently, the Petersburg club has accumulated five points after four matches and is in eighth place in the league table. According to Vedeneev, it is not right to focus all attention on the coaches every time the team's results worsen.
He expressed the opinion that if this were the case, then coaches of other teams in lower positions would also need to be replaced. Vedeneev considers this approach unfounded.
The expert stated that for “Zenit,” experiencing defeats in some pre-season matches would have been beneficial. Because then the team would be able to see its weaknesses.
He also blamed the lack of motivation among foreign players in the team. It is worth noting that in the fourth round of the championship, “Zenit” lost 0:1 away to the “Akhmat” club.
The current results are provoking various opinions among fans and experts. For this reason, discussions around the team continue.
