Viktor Onopko, a member of the coaching staff of the Rostov team, spoke about how the team's former head coach Valery Karpin announced his decision to leave the club. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Karpin left Rostov after the winter break of the 2024/2025 season. The current head coach of the team is his former video analyst Jonathan Alba.
According to Onopko, Karpin gathered the coaching staff in the evening and openly admitted that he was very tired of the travels. Due to the closure of Rostov airport, team members had to reach matches and return using multiple modes of transportation.
Buses, trains, and planes alternated, making the trips very difficult. Under such conditions, maintaining maximum work efficiency and demanding high performance from the players was especially challenging.
In June 2023, Karpin was appointed head coach of Moscow Dynamo. Additionally, he continues his work with the Russian national team.
