Italian defender Cristiano Picchini has decided to end his career at the age of 32. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The main reason is the deterioration of his health due to multiple recurring injuries, especially problems with his right knee. The footballer, who previously played for Italy's Fiorentina and Spain's Valencia clubs, published an emotional letter on social media reflecting on his career from a childhood perspective.
His letter includes the following words: “Dear Cristiano, I am writing to you from afar. Perhaps you do not know where I am writing from.
I am writing from the locker rooms of stadiums, where I have seen tears of happiness and anger. I am writing from hotel rooms, where you lived and often felt loneliness.
I have many things to tell you.” It is also known that Picchini played for Serbia's Crvena Zvezda club.
His career has been memorable for many fans. Now he is stepping into a new phase of life.
Gratitude is expressed for his services to the world of football.
