The Secretary General of the Russian Football Federation, Maxim Mitrofanov, responded to the question of whether it is possible to invite FIFA President Gianni Infantino to Russia. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, there are existing relations with Infantino, but this process is expected to begin primarily with the visit of UEFA President Alexander Ceferin. Currently, Infantino is busy with the Club World Cup and participating in a major event.
Mitrofanov announced this to the Sport-Express publication. In February 2022, due to a decision by FIFA and UEFA, Russian clubs and national teams were banned from international competitions.
As a result, local teams are not participating in European cups, and national teams are only holding friendly matches. This situation has significantly reduced the international activity of Russian teams in the football arena.
The goal of the federation leadership is to restore international relations in the future and to resume participation in competitions.
