Leonidas AR created a new autonomous system against drones
American companies Epirus and General Dynamics Land Systems have developed a new autonomous robotic system to combat the increasing drone threats in modern warfare. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This system combines microwave weapons and artificial intelligence, serving as an effective defense tool against drones. The platform, named Leonidas Autonomous Robotic, mounts Epirus's high-power microwave weapon onto a 10-ton Tracked Robot chassis developed by General Dynamics Land Systems.

As a result, a mobile and fully autonomous system capable of destroying any swarm of drones in a single strike has emerged. The Leonidas system disables enemy drones' electronics using powerful microwave pulses.

This process is carried out without rockets or artillery, relying solely on electromagnetic force. The system operates on the "one pulse – multiple targets" principle and can neutralize several drones simultaneously.

The operator can adjust the system's frequency and power to suit various conditions. Additionally, the safe zone function ensures that friendly drones are not harmed.

There is no need to leave the field to update the system; all changes are made remotely. Built on the TRX robot base developed by GDLS, this platform is a 10-ton hybrid-electric vehicle equipped with artificial intelligence and powerful sensors.

It can cover a distance of 480 kilometers on a single charge and reach speeds of up to 72 kilometers per hour. Thanks to radar and computing systems, the Leonidas AR can operate both autonomously and in remote-controlled modes.

Experts believe that the Leonidas AR represents a new stage in modern military technology, serving not only as an effective tool against drone threats but also potentially becoming an automated defense system for entire armies in the future.
