A zero version of the national strategy against cancer in Uzbekistan, planned for 2025–2035, has been agreed upon by WHO and Ministry of Health experts, as reported by Nova24.uz. Based on this, an action plan is being formulated.
This activity is being carried out with the participation of the Islamic Development Bank under the initiative "Support for the Project for the Development of Oncology Services in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Phase II".
According to WHO data, more than 100,000 people are living with an oncological diagnosis in Uzbekistan. More than 20,000 new cases are identified each year.
WHO emphasizes that in many cases, early detection of the disease and existing treatment methods can prevent or completely cure it. However, a systematic approach is necessary for this. Therefore, each goal and action is being discussed separately: from equipment to personnel, cultural barriers, and public trust.
