President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a sincere conversation with representatives of the education sector on the eve of Teacher and Mentors Day. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the meeting, the head of state emphasized that the main goal of reforms in the higher education system is to transform Uzbekistan into a regional center for education and science. Currently, four higher education institutions in our country are listed among the world's most prestigious universities.
In the near future, it is planned to increase this number to at least ten. This will further enhance the international standing of national universities.
Additionally, universities are expected to collaborate with top-500 universities worldwide in various fields. This cooperation will cover information technology, artificial intelligence, agrotechnologies, medicine, and green energy sectors.
Furthermore, branches of the world's top 100 universities are planned to be opened in Uzbekistan. This will create new opportunities for young people and further improve the quality of education.
The head of state also noted that next year the Central Asian International Education Forum will be organized. It will involve more than ten international organizations, over 500 rectors of prestigious universities, and thousands of foreign experts.
At the same time, it is planned to increase the number of foreign students fivefold and raise the volume of education exports to 200 million dollars. During the conversation, issues related to creating necessary conditions for education workers, enhancing their qualifications, and ensuring the effectiveness of reforms were also discussed.
Once these plans are implemented, Uzbekistan's higher education can become one of the leading centers not only in the region but also globally. (Source: Zamin.uz)
