The word "oron" was introduced instead of "password"

According to the decision made by the Terminology Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers in July 2025, new steps have been taken to develop Uzbek equivalents for foreign terms. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

In this decision, a total of 40 foreign words were assigned Uzbek equivalents. One notable change relates to the field of technology and electronic documents, where the Uzbek word “o‘ron” was proposed as an alternative to the word “parol” (password).

As a result, the phrase “change password” in electronic services has now started to be used as “change o‘ron.” However, this change is being perceived as confusing by many users and in some cases is being misinterpreted.

According to experts, ensuring clarity and user-friendliness is crucial when translating such terms. Because unclear or incorrect words can cause confusion among users.

Especially, terms used in digital services and electronic signature systems should be practical and easy to understand. The Terminology Commission aims to enrich the Uzbek language and adapt it to modern technology by implementing such changes.

At the same time, it is planned to contribute to the development of the language by creating Uzbek forms of international terms. Source: zamin.uz
