During an operation conducted by law enforcement agencies at Tashkent International Airport, a serious crime related to human trafficking was prevented. A citizen named Siddiqova had met a candidate woman through social networks, gained her trust, and was trying to take her to Turkey with the promise of a high-paying job when she was exposed by officers of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Department.
According to the investigation data, the arrested woman stated that she had been living in Turkey for 5 years, had returned to Uzbekistan a few weeks ago, and had brought the victim to the airport under the pretext of offering her a job.
"I talked to her via WhatsApp. The girl agreed. I was supposed to guide her in Turkey, teach her the language and the city. But we were stopped at the airport by the internal affairs authorities and taken to the Chilonzor District Internal Affairs Department," Siddiqova explained.
The items brought with her, including several foreign passports, tickets for the Tashkent–Istanbul flight, and mobile phones, were checked in the presence of witnesses and documented as evidence.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 135 of the Criminal Code — "Human Trafficking." Preliminary investigation activities are underway. Relevant authorities are investigating whether the accused has participated in other criminal episodes.
Officials are urging citizens to be vigilant in such cases, not to follow unknown individuals in pursuit of job and money promises, and to check all official and legal documents when traveling abroad.
Human trafficking is a criminal activity that poses a threat not only to personal life but also to the security of the entire society. Our active participation is considered crucial in combating it.
