Trump stated what Ukraine's future support depends on
US President Donald Trump emphasized that dealing with Ukraine is becoming increasingly difficult. On March 7, he expressed his position on this issue during a meeting with journalists.

"Dealing with Ukraine is harder than with Russia"

In a report dedicated to the US economy, journalists asked him whether he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is committed to peace. In response, he said:

“I believe Putin intends to achieve peace. Everything is fine between us and Russia. However, dealing with Ukraine is harder than with Russia,” Trump said.

In his opinion, both Moscow and Kyiv are interested in ending the war, but the main problem in this process lies in whether the Ukrainian government wants an agreement or not.

US aid depends on negotiations

Trump stated that if Kyiv is not ready for peace negotiations, the US could stop any assistance to Ukraine:

“I do not see a desire from Ukraine to end the conflict. If they do not want an agreement, we will leave. The future support of the US for Ukraine will depend on how ready they are for peace negotiations,” Trump said.

Zelensky is ready to sit at the negotiating table

On March 3, Trump had halted military aid to Ukraine. Following this decision, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced his readiness for negotiations.

On March 4, Trump stated in a congressional speech that he received an "important letter" from Zelensky, in which he wrote that Ukraine is "ready to sit at the negotiating table as soon as possible to ensure stable peace."

Trump also emphasized that he received "strong signals" from Russia regarding peace negotiations.

According to Donald Trump's position, if Ukraine does not engage in serious negotiations to resolve the conflict, the US may completely stop military aid to Kyiv. Additionally, he mentioned that there is a real possibility of ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. Now all attention is focused on the official positions expressed by Kyiv and Moscow.
