Putin is ready to stop firing in Ukraine under certain conditions
Russian President Vladimir Putin may agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine under certain conditions. According to Bloomberg, Moscow conveyed this proposal to the US delegation during negotiations held in Saudi Arabia in February.

Putin's position and peace conditions

Sources indicate that Putin believes it is necessary to develop clear principles for a peace agreement and that this agreement should be monitored through a mechanism based on armed forces.

Russia's main demands:
  • Deployment of a peacekeeping mission involving other countries.
  • European countries not participating as peacekeeping forces.
  • Ensuring the participation of neutral countries acceptable to Moscow.

The Kremlin is not opposed to the participation of peacekeeping forces from China or other "neutral" countries. However, the involvement of European countries in such a mission is unacceptable for Russia.

Position of European countries

Bloomberg also reported that European countries have been discussing the possibility of sending peacekeeping troops to Ukraine. Recently, France, Britain, and several other European countries held discussions about sending troops to Kyiv. According to The Telegraph, London and Paris are planning to send up to 30,000 European troops to Ukraine.

Possibility of peace negotiations

Recently, the topic of peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine has resurfaced. After US President Donald Trump halted military aid to Ukraine, signals began to emerge that Kyiv and Moscow were ready to negotiate.

However, the Ukrainian side is not rushing to accept Russia's demands. President Vladimir Zelensky emphasizes that ensuring Ukraine's territorial integrity is a condition.

Putin's proposal to stop firing in Ukraine, especially the conditions regarding the peacekeeping mission, remains a serious political issue for the international community. The Kremlin does not want European countries to interfere in the peace agreement, while the US is monitoring Kyiv's stance. Now, how the next phase of peace negotiations will unfold is becoming one of the key issues in the political arena.
