According to current discussions, the most favorable scenario is to hold the meeting during the Easter holiday period. This date falls on April 20, 2025. However, Moscow is reportedly inclined to postpone this meeting as much as possible. This may indicate Russia's intention to seek as many concessions from the US as possible in exchange for halting military operations.
At the same time, the Kremlin does not want to delay the meeting for too long. Russian officials are concerned that interest in negotiations may wane, considering the growing anti-Moscow sentiment in the US and Europe. Therefore, the meeting is planned to take place "no later than June."
Main issues in the negotiations
Russia plans to discuss several important bilateral issues during the meeting, in addition to the matter of ending the war in Ukraine. These include:
- Cancellation of Western sanctions;
