The 100-milliliter liquid restriction at European airports may soon be lifted. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This restriction has been causing inconvenience for hundreds of millions of passengers. Euronews reported this based on sources from the European Commission.
The restriction was implemented to ensure safety, as previous x-ray equipment could not detect liquid explosives. However, the situation is changing with the development of modern technologies.
New generation scanning equipment allows for the detection of explosives, and therefore the restrictions are being reconsidered. The new system approved at the European Citizen Aviation Conference in June is currently being tested by manufacturers.
Once officially confirmed, it is expected to be implemented on a large scale. Currently, this technology has been installed as a trial at some airports in the cities of Rome and Milan in Italy.
Seven terminals in Italy are equipped with modern scanners, allowing passengers to carry larger volumes of liquids in their hand luggage. Other European countries, including Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, Malta, Sweden, and the Netherlands, are also planning to implement this technology in the near future.
These changes will create significant convenience for millions of passengers. Now, it may not be necessary to place cosmetics, perfumes, and medicinal products in special containers and adhere to constant measurements and restrictions.
However, it will take time to widely implement the new system, as such equipment is more expensive compared to traditional devices and requires technical and financial preparation at each airport. At the same time, the new system will further strengthen the safety of international air travel.
The European Union is choosing a modern approach in this regard, placing more emphasis on the human factor. The public is eagerly awaiting how such innovations will impact their lives in the near future.
