Significant changes are occurring in the Chinese political elite. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Lyu Szyanchao, an experienced diplomat and political figure who was the head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, was unexpectedly detained in Beijing after returning from a foreign trip at the end of July. The New York Times reported, citing reliable sources, that he was interrogated.
So far, there is no official information regarding the reasons for the detention of the 61-year-old high-ranking politician. Journalists from the newspaper attempted to contact him but did not receive a response.
Additionally, there have been no statements from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs or other official bodies regarding the incident. In 2023, after the resignation of Qin Gang, Lyu Szyanchao was considered a candidate for the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.
Since 2022, he has organized official visits to more than 20 countries and held negotiations with representatives from over 160 countries. His meetings with former U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in particular, had fueled speculation about his increasing activity and political stature on the international stage.
Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China is headed by Wang Yi. The situation surrounding Lyu Szyanchao is causing significant discussions not only in China's domestic politics but also in international diplomacy.
In the future, the main reasons and consequences behind this event are expected to become clear, potentially impacting China's foreign policy.
