Since the beginning of the excavations, unique findings have been identified. According to the press service of the regional administration, during the research process, copper coins from the Temurids and Mangits periods were discovered.
This was reported by "Sputnik Tajikistan". On August 12, 2025, scientists from the Tajikistan Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage began archaeological research on the hill near the "Bibikhonim" fortress.
In the first days of the excavation work, specialists found two unique copper coins. One of them belongs to the Temurid dynasty that ruled in the 15th–16th centuries, and the other was minted during the Mangit period in the 16th–17th centuries.
In addition to the copper coins, pottery items and broken vessels from that era were also found during the excavations. These findings provide valuable information about the life and cultural development of the population of that time.
The archaeological excavations will continue until August 17. According to the scientists, these findings are important not only for the history of Bokhtar but also for studying the cultural and economic relations of the Middle Ages throughout Central Asia.
These studies serve to deepen the understanding of the region's historical heritage.
