Doctors in Tanzania encountered a rare case. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
They removed a knife that had remained in the body of a 44-year-old patient’s chest for eight years. The patient had come to the hospital due to pus discharge from his right chest.
At first, the doctors had difficulty making an accurate diagnosis because there were no other serious complaints. The cause became clear after the patient provided information about a knife injury he had sustained several years earlier.
An X-ray examination revealed a large knife blade remaining in the chest area. Interestingly, the knife was located next to the right shoulder bone and had not damaged other vital organs.
The patient was immediately taken to surgery. During the operation, the doctors carefully removed the knife and the dead tissues that had formed as a result.
Afterwards, the patient was monitored in the intensive care unit for one day and then transferred to a general ward. He was treated there for 10 days.
According to the doctors, such cases are very rare in medical practice. Although this situation posed a great risk to the patient’s health, timely medical intervention saved his life.
