
A 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Poso district of Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of this earthquake, 29 people were injured. Two of them are in serious condition and have been hospitalized.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake took place 15 kilometers north of the city of Poso at 05:38 local time. After the main tremor, 10 aftershocks were recorded.
The strongest aftershock had a magnitude of 3.2, while the others measured 2.0 in magnitude. The Indonesian Agency for Disaster Management announced that all the injured have been taken to hospitals and are receiving necessary medical treatment.
Currently, two people remain in serious condition. The agency also stated that there is no tsunami risk following the earthquake, which provided important reassurance to the local population.
Some local media outlets incorrectly reported the earthquake's magnitude as 6.0. This event and its aftershocks once again highlighted the need for preparedness for natural disasters in Indonesia.
