A trial has begun against a palliative care doctor in Germany accused of deliberately killing at least 15 people. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Johannes M., a 40-year-old living in Berlin and working in palliative care and nursing services, is accused of intentionally killing 15 patients.
Investigators suspect that he may have deliberately ended the lives of nearly 100 people. The main role of a palliative care doctor is to monitor patients with severe illnesses and unstable mental states at home, aiming to reduce their physical and emotional suffering.
However, the accused violated this duty by administering life-threatening drugs to patients. After these injections, most of the patients stopped breathing.
Additionally, the accused attempted to cover up the traces of murder by pouring fuel into the victims' homes and trying to set the houses on fire. This incident caused a major uproar among citizens and local media.
The trial is expected to continue until at least the end of January 2026. The prosecution is requesting a life sentence without the right to appeal for Johannes M.
This case has drawn attention to ethical and legal issues in the field of palliative care in Germany.
