French President Emmanuel Macron criticized Europe's stance towards Russia in an interview on October 1 and called Russia the greatest structural threat to Europe. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, Europe has not shown a sufficiently clear and united response to Russia's threats. Macron emphasized that Russia is threatening the security of European countries through cyberattacks, assassinations of opposition figures, and managing migration flows.
He also stated that European countries are not prepared for the information war, as Russia is succeeding in influencing public opinion by spreading false information. The French president highlighted that Europe has not yet fully understood Russia's information manipulation carried out with the help of digital bots.
He said that if Russia undertakes any military action, such as the unauthorized entry of a fighter jet into European territory, a clear and firm response must be given. Macron promoted the "Strategic Ambiguity Doctrine," noting that no situation should be excluded.
According to Macron, Ukraine and Western allies need to take a firmer stance against Moscow's pressure. He stressed that all criticisms should be openly expressed and no weakness shown in order to keep Putin in doubt.
Overall, Macron's statements call on Europe to reconsider its policy towards Russia and to take clear and firm measures against threats. In his view, Europe must adopt a strong and united position to ensure its security.
