Putin announced a 30-hour ceasefire for Easter
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a 30-hour ceasefire in connection with the Easter holiday during the war with Ukraine. He made this announcement during a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov.

“From a humanitarian point of view, starting from 6:00 PM today, the Russian side will declare an Easter ceasefire from Sunday night to Monday at midnight. I order to halt all military actions during this time,” Putin said.

The Russian president expressed hope that the Ukrainian side would “take an example from Russia.” At the same time, he emphasized that Russian troops should be prepared for possible provocations and violations of the ceasefire.

Putin also stated that he supports the U.S. commitment to resolving the conflict peacefully.

The Ukrainian side has not yet responded to this initiative.

Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had said he was expecting a response from his Russian counterpart regarding the proposal to stop firing in Ukraine “by the end of this week.”

It is worth noting that earlier there was an agreement mediated by the U.S. between Russia and Ukraine not to strike energy facilities, which lasted from March 18 to April 18. During this period, both sides have accused each other of violating the agreement.

What do you think: is a 30-hour ceasefire a real break or just another strategic maneuver?
