This initiative is focused on protecting children from harmful content, inappropriate information, and the influence of online advertising. According to the bill, social network platforms will be responsible for verifying the age of their users.
If the established requirements are not met, companies may face fines of up to 6 percent of their annual global revenue. According to statistics, 94 percent of children under 13 in Denmark use social networks.
Experts consider this situation concerning and emphasize the need to safeguard the mental health of the younger generation. The government has described this decision as an "important step towards creating a healthy and safe environment on the internet."
