A Super Typhoon brought heavy rain and wind to the central and eastern regions of the Philippines. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Power outages occurred in the Bicol region, and the typhoon is expected to reach the island of Northern Luzon. At least two people died as a result of the event.
One of them drowned on Catanduanes Island, and the other was a woman trapped under a collapsed house in the city of Catbalogan. Before the typhoon began, more than 1 million people were evacuated to safe areas.
The wind speed reached 185 km/h, with gusts up to 230 km/h. For safety reasons, several airports, including those near Bicol and Metro Manila's Sangley Airport, were temporarily closed.
The Defense Minister advised the public to strictly follow evacuation orders. Additionally, 2,000 military personnel were mobilized to provide assistance.
This natural disaster is the 21st typhoon to hit the Philippines this year and is another strong blow following Typhoon Kalmaegi. The typhoon is expected to continue moving northward from Sunday to Tuesday and later reach the Taiwan Strait.
Officials are once again reminding the public to adhere to safety measures.
