The Bangladesh court found the country's former prime minister Sheikh Hasina guilty of committing crimes against humanity and sentenced her to death. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
It is reported that Sheikh Hasina and her close associates were found guilty of violently suppressing mass protests that erupted across the country in 2024. These protests later turned into a revolution, leading to a serious political crisis in the country.
During her 15-year rule, Sheikh Hasina pursued an authoritarian policy, during which many bloody incidents occurred. According to the United Nations, approximately 1,400 citizens died as a result of the purges during her administration.
The trial lasted several months and included testimonies from many witnesses who gave their statements remotely. The witnesses accused Sheikh Hasina of ordering the mass elimination of protesting citizens.
After being overthrown, Sheikh Hasina fled to India, where she found refuge. She does not recognize the court's verdict and denies all charges.
