The food situation worldwide is becoming increasingly complex. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) announced that the global risk of hunger is rising. According to the organization, nearly 318 million people may face hunger or severe food crises in 2026.
This figure is twice as high as the situation in 2019. The most serious problem is that funds allocated for humanitarian aid are significantly decreasing.
As a result, the WFP is able to deliver food to only one-third of the people in need. Initially, assistance was planned for 110 million people, but financial support does not allow this plan to be fully implemented.
Currently, the risk of hunger is sharply increasing in regions such as Gaza and Sudan. Due to conflicts, climate change, and economic instability, the situation is expected to remain difficult to improve in the coming years.
WFP head Cindy McCain called on the international community to invest more in the fight against hunger and to find solutions together.
