The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to Kazakhstan's protest regarding the attack on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (KTK) sea terminal. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Ukrainian officials emphasized that this action was not directed against Kazakhstan and was carried out within the scope of self-defense. Ukraine acknowledged Kazakhstan's concerns expressed after the attack on the export terminal in the city of Novorossiysk.
At the same time, Ukraine reminded that, based on Article 51 of the UN Charter, every state has the right to defend its territory. The statement criticized Kazakhstan's silence regarding the attacks on Ukrainian territory and stressed that Kazakhstan should assist in urging Russia to stop the conflict.
It was reported that the KTK terminal was struck on the night of November 29. As a result, the VPU-2 mooring facility was severely damaged and rendered unusable.
Loading operations were halted, and tankers were removed from the water area. No one was injured in the incident, and preliminary information indicates that no oil leakage was detected.
According to experts' calculations, the suspension of KTK operations could cause Kazakhstan losses of at least 1.5 billion US dollars. This amount is equivalent to the annual budget of the cities of Astana or Almaty.
