Decreasing water resources in India are putting serious pressure on major beverage manufacturing companies. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Especially in the northwestern part of Rajasthan state, water scarcity has made it difficult to balance the needs of industry and the population. Since a large part of Rajasthan falls within a desert region, underground water reserves are rapidly depleting.
According to current laws, inter-state transportation of products is restricted. Therefore, despite water shortages, companies are forced to continue production in these areas.
This situation further increases the pressure on existing water resources. Large companies report that they are taking various measures to reduce water usage.
For instance, water-saving technologies are being implemented in factories, rainwater harvesting and wastewater treatment are being carried out. Nevertheless, in some areas, water extraction exceeds its natural replenishment rate.
Local residents are dissatisfied with water supply problems. In some villages, drinking water is delivered only once a week.
The government is striving to control the use of water resources and introduce restrictions in areas experiencing water scarcity. Experts emphasize the necessity of joint efforts by the state, industry, and society to solve this problem.
