Seven people died in protests in Iran

Seven people have died during ongoing protests across Iran. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Among them are law enforcement officers and protest participants. This information is reported by international news agencies.
The protests began on December 28 in the main market area of Tehran. The incident was caused by a sharp decline in the currency exchange rate and a rapid increase in prices.
Shop owners and students, dissatisfied with the economic situation, took to the streets. According to Reuters calculations, during 2025, Iran's national currency — the rial — has depreciated by almost half against the dollar.
In December, the country's inflation rate reached 42.5 percent. Later, protests were also held in other regions of Iran.
The most intense clashes reportedly occurred in the city of Azna. Officials have stated their readiness to engage in dialogue with protest participants.
However, law enforcement agencies have described these protests as externally organized sedition. According to the IRNA news agency, activists in the country emphasize the need to stabilize the currency exchange rate and coordinate monetary policy.
Meanwhile, officials are developing measures to address economic problems.
