The UN called an emergency meeting on Venezuela

On January 3, 2026, following a military operation carried out by the United States in Venezuela, the UN decided to hold an emergency meeting. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The UN assessed this operation as a violation of international law and an action that creates dangerous factors. UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized that this military operation could cause serious problems in international relations and called on all parties to return to dialogue.
According to Guterres, any violation of a state's sovereignty or the use of force against them undermines the stability of international relations. The President of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, responding to this event, noted that during times of crisis, all states must adhere to the UN Charter.
She stated that the use or threat of force against sovereign states is considered contrary to international law. Following this incident, the UN Security Council planned to hold an emergency meeting on January 5 at 10:00 New York time.
The main purpose of this meeting is to resolve international conflicts and clarify the situation through diplomatic means. The UN's call has increased concerns about escalating tensions behind global political and diplomatic relations.
The emergency meeting holds significant importance in protecting international law and maintaining peace.
