Maduro detained, Venezuela deployed tankers

Nearly ten oil-laden tankers secretly left Venezuelan territorial waters. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These ships departed the country after removing their identification marks. These events occurred during a comprehensive US operation.
Within the framework of this operation, it was reported that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his spouse were arrested and taken out of the country. This information was provided by podrobno.uz.
According to TankerTrackers.com, these ships are included in the list sanctioned by the US. Satellite images recorded at least four tankers heading north from the maritime border near Margarita Island.
Experts emphasize that raw material exports are crucial for the interim government. The oil blockade that began in December 2025 has almost halted exports, severely damaging the operations of the state company PDVSA.
Nevertheless, the US has maintained its embargo against Venezuela. Former President Donald Trump stated that major buyers like China continue to purchase oil.
Whether the current departure of the tankers is an evasion of sanctions or a coordinated step remains unclear. On the night of January 3, the US struck military bases and other facilities in Caracas.
Donald Trump confirmed the success of this operation and announced that Maduro and his spouse were arrested. The European Union stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and maintains its previous position regarding Maduro's legitimacy.
According to media reports, Maduro and his spouse were brought to a federal court in New York. They are expected to be tried on charges including narco-terrorism, cocaine smuggling, weapons possession, and conspiracy against the US.
Media reports suggest that Maduro and his spouse may face life imprisonment or the death penalty.
