Gulf States Deterred Trump from Attacking Iran

Officials from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman were able to persuade US President Donald Trump to abandon plans for a military strike against Iran. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to a senior Saudi official, these three countries engaged in active diplomatic efforts at the last moment to urge Washington to refrain from taking a drastic step. The official stated that these actions aimed to convince Trump to express his intentions towards Iran through peaceful means.
The parties are still continuing dialogue with the US, striving to strengthen the trust achieved and maintain the existing positive atmosphere. The main goal is to resolve the situation peacefully and prevent new conflicts.
Economic concerns also played an important role in this decision. According to The Wall Street Journal, the Arab states led by Saudi Arabia called on the US not to strike Tehran.
Such a drastic step could have caused instability in oil markets, price fluctuations, and consequently negatively impacted the US economy. The Iranian side also sent certain signals.
According to Reza Amiri Moghadam, Iran's ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Trump announced that the US would not attack Tehran. In return, the US asked Iran not to strike American facilities in the region and to maintain restraint.
One aspect of this situation is also related to protests in Iran. After the demonstrations began, Trump stated that US officials were considering several aggressive options.
According to The New York Times, a scenario of striking non-military targets in Tehran was also proposed to Trump. However, on January 14, Trump reported that Iranian officials had refrained from punishing the protesters.
In conclusion, the Gulf countries successfully applied diplomacy to prevent the conflict this time. The main task now is to maintain the positive atmosphere achieved.
Because if any conflict starts in the region, its consequences could seriously affect the oil market and regional security.
