Trump's "800 killings" statement: truth or pressure?

The White House responded to US President Donald Trump's statement that "Iran did not carry out 800 executions due to US pressure." This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to White House Press Secretary Caroline Livitt's statement on January 15, information received by the president indicated that 800 executions were planned and were supposed to take place on January 14. However, Livitt did not disclose the sources of this information.

Al Hadath TV reported that Iran closed its airspace along the border with Iraq. The DPA agency noted that this information strengthens assumptions about the US preparing for a possible airstrike.
The White House Press Secretary stated that only a small group of advisors were aware of President Trump's plans. Tensions are also increasing inside Iran.
On January 14, the head of Iran's judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, emphasized the need to expedite trials for those arrested during protests and to impose the death penalty on some. However, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that "there are no plans for any executions."
According to the HRANA organization based in the US, 544 people have died during the unrest in Iran, and more than 10,000 people have been detained. The protests began on December 28, 2025.
In Tehran, shop owners dissatisfied with the economic situation stopped trading, and later these actions spread to other cities. The protests took on a political character, with some participants demanding a regime change.
It is reported that Iran's economy is in a difficult state, with an inflation rate of 40 percent, and Western sanctions are causing serious damage to the country. Trump warned that the US might intervene if shots are fired at peaceful protesters.
At the same time, there are reports that banks and government institutions in Tehran have been set on fire, and mosques have been destroyed. The current situation continues the conflict between Iran and the US.
Whether Trump's statement about 800 executions is true or a form of political pressure, time will tell.
