Kazakhstan's meat exports affect domestic prices

Meat exports from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan are affecting the price of beef in the neighboring country's domestic market. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced on March 6 by Yerbol Tasjurekov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan. According to him, Kazakhstan produces more meat than its population consumes.
Last year, the country produced 430 thousand tons of beef, while domestic demand was 400 thousand tons. Thus, there was an opportunity to sell about 30 thousand tons of meat abroad.
Tasjurekov explained the increase in domestic meat prices by the high demand for Kazakh meat abroad, including in Uzbekistan. According to him, the export volume to Uzbekistan is very large because the neighboring country has high demand for meat products and prices are significantly higher than in Kazakhstan's domestic market.
For this reason, producers often prefer to export their products as it is economically beneficial. In the future, a new comprehensive plan for livestock development is expected to be implemented.
This program is planned to serve the purpose of supplying the domestic market with affordable meat, as well as increasing export volumes abroad.
