Strong earthquake hits Afghanistan and felt in Uzbekistan

A strong earthquake was recorded in Afghanistan. Zamin.uz reported this.
Official information regarding the event was released by the Republican Seismic Prognostic Monitoring Center. According to experts, the earthquake occurred at 07:54 AM local time.
The epicenter of the tremor was located in the Badakhshan province of Afghanistan. This point is approximately 537 kilometers southeast of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.5, and its focal depth was recorded at 150 kilometers underground. This natural phenomenon was also felt in neighboring Uzbekistan.
In particular, residents of the Surxondaryo region felt the tremor with a magnitude of 2 to 3. Additionally, tremors of approximately magnitude 2 were observed in the Fergana, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Sirdaryo, Qashqadaryo, Andijan, and Namangan regions, as well as in the Tashkent region.
It was reported that the earthquake was also lightly felt in the capital city of Tashkent. According to current preliminary data, no destruction occurred as a result of this event, and there have been no reports of casualties.
Experts noted that earthquakes with such deep foci usually do not cause significant damage. Nevertheless, the population is asked to take precautionary measures and remain vigilant.
