Venezuelan earthquake relief efforts get a boost from a tsunami-sniffing dog

A service dog nicknamed Sunami is showing great courage in eliminating the consequences of a powerful earthquake that occurred in Venezuela and searching for people under the rubble. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This specially trained animal has directly participated in saving the lives of twenty-six people so far. By accurately indicating the location of victims trapped under the rubble, the dog is enabling rescuers to extract them in a timely manner.
According to Jorge Beyens, the head of the group of specialists working in the natural disaster area, many citizens were saved from death specifically due to Sunami's sensitivity during the rescue operations. This nine-year-old service dog specializes in searching for people during earthquakes, landslides, and other types of emergency situations.
Training such skilled dogs is a complex process that usually requires several years of relentless work. Notably, Sunami had previously actively participated in search operations during the terrible earthquakes that occurred in Turkey.
At that time, the dog amazed everyone by finding survivors in complex spots that other groups were unable to detect. Currently, the skilled dog and its trainers continue to consistently perform their duties in the designated areas.
Every person found becomes a great victory and a source of hope for the rescuers. The leadership of Venezuela expressed special gratitude to this brave animal and its handler.
Officials emphasized that in these days of severe trials, Sunami is serving as a true symbol of salvation for many families. The selfless work of the dog and the cynologists is an integral part of the collective efforts aimed at saving the lives of hundreds of people.
The assistance of such service dogs is of great importance in situations where technical means also prove ineffective.
