Death toll from powerful earthquake in Venezuela reaches three thousand

Following a powerful earthquake in Venezuela, the number of victims has sharply increased, reaching nearly three thousand people, Zamin.uz reported.
Although more than ten days have passed since the natural disaster, hundreds of citizens remain listed as missing. According to the latest data from national authorities, the death toll stands at two thousand nine hundred and fifty-four people.
Additionally, over sixteen and a half thousand people sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized. Currently, international search and rescue teams are concluding their efforts to locate people under the debris.
Experts note that the first seventy-two hours after such large-scale natural disasters are critical for finding survivors alive. After this period, the chances of survival for those still trapped decrease significantly.
Nevertheless, rescuers are mobilizing all available resources to save every living person. Eyewitnesses at the scene emphasized that, before specialized services arrived, local residents used improvised tools to pull their loved ones from the rubble.
At present, government officials have stated that search operations for the missing will not be halted and that all affected individuals will receive comprehensive assistance. Nationwide efforts to address the earthquake’s consequences and rebuild damaged infrastructure continue on a large scale.
