The US struck targets near the Strait of Hormuz in Iran

The military and political situation in the Middle East has reached its peak. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The United States Central Command officially announced that new airstrikes were carried out against targets in Iran near the Strait of Hormuz. The Washington administration stated that this military operation was conducted to limit Iran’s ability to threaten civilian and commercial vessels and to ensure the safety of international waterways.
Following this major escalation, tensions in the region have intensified further. Below, you can familiarize yourself with the most important details of the events.
According to Central Command, the subsequent airstrikes were carried out at the direct order of U.S. President Donald Trump. These strikes were primarily aimed at ensuring the safety of vessels freely navigating through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to reports from Iranian state television, intense shelling occurred in the western part of Bandar Abbas port, around the city of Sirik, on Qeshm Island, and in the city of Jask near the strait. A statement from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that as a result of the attacks, one person was killed on Qeshm Island and two others sustained serious injuries.
Following this incident, Iran issued a statement suggesting it could seriously impact the global economy. According to Tehran, the Strait of Hormuz—through which about twenty percent of global oil trade passes—would remain closed until U.S. military presence in the region is withdrawn.
However, the United States immediately rejected this claim. Official Washington stated that the strait is not under Iran’s control and that international maritime traffic continues as usual.
It should be noted that U.S. forces had previously attacked more than a hundred military targets in Iran, including missile and drone depots. These actions were assessed as a response to the attack on a U.S. cargo ship.
In response, Tehran announced that it had launched missile strikes against targets used by U.S. forces in neighboring countries, particularly the airbase in Qatar and port facilities in the UAE. In fact, in June of this year, the two countries had signed an agreement on peace and safe navigation.
However, the situation quickly deteriorated again, with the sides accusing each other of violating the peace agreement. At the NATO summit, President Donald Trump announced that the understanding reached with Iran had lapsed and that oil sanctions against Iran had been reinstated.
The closed-door talks held in mid-July ended without any positive results. Currently, the situation in the region remains extremely tense.
