President of North Macedonia accompanies a bullied girl to school

In February 2022, an influential event took place in the city of Gostivar, North Macedonia, which attracted worldwide attention. Zamin.uz reported on this.
Eleven-year-old schoolgirl Embla Ademi faced discrimination from her peers and some parents. Her Down syndrome led to unfounded complaints from certain parents.
They blamed Embla for interfering with the learning process and began to prevent their children from studying in the same class as her, organizing a boycott against her. Due to the unpleasant situation, the girl was separated from her classmates and forced to sit alone during lessons.
This incident was widely discussed on social media and mass media outlets, causing strong public disapproval. The country's president, Stevo Pendarovski, could not remain indifferent to this event and took an unexpected but very exemplary step.
The head of state personally visited Embla's home, gave her gifts, and talked with her family. Then, the president took the girl's hand and accompanied her to the school building.
This action was a strong rebuke against the wrong attitudes formed in society towards children with special needs. Pendarovski emphasized in his statement that inclusive education is a constitutional right for every child and that the behavior of those who discriminate cannot be justified.
This event served as an important lesson not only for North Macedonia but for the entire international community. The president's action served to strengthen feelings of compassion, equality, and mutual respect in society.
Zero, every child, regardless of their physical condition, deserves to receive quality education and to be delighted as a full member of society. Such humanistic approaches supported at the state level are the most effective way to ensure social justice.
