Peskov: Zelenskiy-Tramp meeting showed how difficult it is to reach an agreement in Ukraine
The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Washington sparked significant discussions on the international stage. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, emphasized that this meeting once again highlighted the problems in achieving peace in Ukraine.

Peskov: The path to agreement is complex

According to Peskov, the conflict that arose in the White House demonstrated that there are serious difficulties in reaching an agreement in Ukraine.

"The event that occurred in the White House on Friday certainly showed how difficult it is to reach an agreement around Ukraine," Peskov said.

Zelenskiy-Trump debate and Kyiv's security guarantees

During the meeting, Zelenskiy demanded security guarantees from the US for Ukraine, which led to sharp disagreements with Trump.

While commenting on this situation, Peskov noted that Moscow is open to negotiations, but Kyiv is currently unwilling to accept such an opportunity.

"Zelenskiy's words in the White House confirmed the idea that Putin's readiness for an agreement is limited by Kyiv's desires," said the Russian press secretary.

"Zelenskiy could not demonstrate diplomatic skill"

Peskov expressed doubts about Zelenskiy's diplomatic experience, stating that his position in negotiations is complicating the achievement of peace.

"Zelenskiy has shown in many ways a complete lack of diplomatic skill," he said.

He also believes that Zelenskiy's unwillingness to give up Ukrainian territories stems from a refusal to acknowledge the real situation.

"Zelenskiy does not want peace – someone needs to force him"

According to Peskov, the Ukrainian government does not want to achieve peace, and Western countries need to force Zelenskiy down this path.

The issue of Western assistance to Ukraine

Peskov also mentioned that Western countries continue to provide assistance to Ukraine. He noted that some countries still consider it necessary to support Kyiv, but there are doubts about the long-term continuation of this assistance in the overall environment.

Peskov also spoke about negotiations with the US and Russia's special military operation, but noted that no significant changes are expected in these processes yet.

The meeting between Zelenskiy and Trump in Washington showed that serious disagreements still persist in resolving the situation in Ukraine. According to Peskov, Kyiv is not ready for peace negotiations, and external forces are required to influence the realization of such a process.

Currently, the position of Western countries in providing assistance to Ukraine remains stable, but there are no clear prospects for future negotiations yet.
