The National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan presented a report on the state of the automotive industry for the first six months of 2025. This was reported by Upl.uz.
According to the published data, the total production volume in this sector has increased by 4.6 percent. The main reason for the growth is the segment of passenger cars.
From January to June, 185,600 passenger cars were produced, which is 8,100 more than the same period last year. Several stable trends were identified in the analysis of the production structure.
As the market leader, the Cobalt model maintains its position. In the first half of the year, 73,100 units of this sedan were produced, showing a 0.2 percent increase.
This indicates the strengthening of the model's position in its class. At the same time, the production rate of the Damas car was unexpectedly high.
This practical car production increased by 18.1 percent, reaching nearly 46,000 units. Although its design is old, the Damas model has shown high practical value for private consumers and small businesses in certain regions.
The Tracker and Onix models are also consolidating their positions in the market. The production of the Tracker crossover increased by 6.3 percent, while Onix showed a slight decrease of 1 percent.
The KIA brand is also growing at a significant pace in local production. The production volume increased by 27 percent, reaching a total of 11,800 units.
This confirms the success of the localization strategy. Additionally, statistics show the active participation of new brands, mainly from Chinese companies.
In six months, 7,000 cars were produced under the BYD brand. Comparing this model with last year is not yet significant, as assembly has only recently begun.
The largest growth was observed in the Haval brand, which increased by 6.5 times, producing 3,500 cars. The Chery brand showed a slight decrease of 0.7 percent, which is being assessed as a temporary change.
Overall, the stable diversification of the car assembly sector is being implemented in the country. The share of foreign brands is increasing, and production lines are adapting to the demand for crossovers and electric vehicles.
Localization is considered a key factor ensuring the stable growth of the industry. The Daewoo Damas model, which is significantly increasing in production in the Uzbekistan market, is a licensed version of the second generation Japanese Suzuki Every minibus.
This model was originally developed in 1985.
